Got it in finally. Just had a slight angle that wouldn't let me get it in. Not sure how I missed it after all the hours fighting it. Good info on the shaft splines etc. I did pull it out and check it out.

So the converter has 3 steps or 2? I have gotten it to 2 and do not believe that it has slipped out. I will drop it down and recheck everything. I can tell you it's not close enough to start the bolts when it's shoved up there. I have even tried a couple longer bolts as dowels.
