    Yeah from everything I have read it definitely seems like a valve train/timing chain issue. I guess I'll keep using good oil and see how long it will go.

    06- 171,000 miles, still runs strong, but needs lots of TLC. Engine tick noise, tranny slip the usual old age problems.

    The engine makes a ticking noise. It is most notable when idling in gear. It does get less when put in park or neutral, but still detectable. Could this be the lifters or timing chain? Has anyone else had this problem? 06 Explorer 4.0, 170,000 miles

    I got error code P0171 after I replaced my air filter. It is not anything hitech, just a Fram ProGuard filter. P0171 states Bank 1 lean. The Explorer still runs great. No power loss. I have triple checked the air box installation verything is installed correctly. I've disconnected the battery so...
