Too wide cant park it anywhere. Couple of buddies have them. They all drive their Porsche’s as daily drivers. I’m going to go take a closer look at the Tahoe and Yukon. Its a little narrower than the Expedition

    2020 Explorer

I wish. Tomorrow I go work on my rental max length parking anywhere on the curb is about 200 inches. So F250 I would be parked two blocks away. The building was built in 1919 my first Gen Sequoia only fits through the carriage doors to the garage with mirrors folded. I only clear the roof by 2...

Neighbor has the 17 Q7 I’d rather just keep my old Sequoia. I put apple car play head unit in it with backup camera. Only thing lacking for the wife is lumbar support in passenger front seat. At this rate I think I’ll just find a shop that can add lumbar to her seat. And just eat the lousy...

Yeah Q7 is old as dirt Durango is just a tired Mercedes GL reskinned and with a giant Dodge engine. Jeep won’t pass the wifes crash standards nor is it better reliability than the crummy Subaru CVT. Kia Telluride? Not really into Korean stuff. But they might actually be the only SUV vs wagon...

Rear hatch opening is 30 inches. Its just not the right shape for camping gear, and other typical stuff a dad hauls around. A big effect are the 3rd row seats tucked down in the floor that design has advantages but I think the negatives out weigh the positives in that design trend. Hopefully...

Too wide I looked. The Tahoe is slightly narrower but still it just hits that too wide to drive in our area for parking etc. my old 1st gen Sequoia oddly cannot be replaced with anything modern. Just too many compromises at a high price.

Finally got to go look at both the Explorer and Aviator today. I have been very excited about it based on the numbers. I currently am a two vehicle stay at home dad. The shuttle is a 2010 Subaru Outback and the hauling rig is a 06 Sequoia. I was hoping the Explorer or Aviator could replace both...

    2020 Explorer

Yeah ok guess 300,000 miles of Subarus and airing down for various terrain was all wrong. I’m sure the Explorer is far far more capable than my Subarus. I have a 1st gen Sequoia had a Landcruiser here’s the catch not once in 25yrs have I needed the full 4x4 capability of those rigs and they...

Ability to drop air pressure on the 18’s vs not so much on the 20-21’s is also a big advantage when actually doing SUV like stuff vs Sport wagon use

Yeah I get it everyone wants to roll on 20’s except they are all city slickers rolling bald junk tires. Some of us actually need tires that don’t burst from potholes or go flat after a gravel road. LoL

245/60R18 Isn’t too bad. My Sequoia is on 265 60 18’s Which always seemed decent but looked kinda small. And I’m no monster tire guy. LoL But these 20+ inch wheels with thin side wall tires on a heavy Family hauler makes me want to whack the Marketing dept in the back of the head.

Has anyone seen if or what the 18in wheels/tire size is? If I buy it will be a trim that only comes with the silly 20+ wheels which are more or less soccer mom tires. I wonder if a dealer would swap wheels ie upgrade a base model so O can tires on my Limited or platinum that will survive our...

    2020 Explorer

Regarding crash rating it would be engineering/design suicide to design a ground up family hauler that gets piss poor crash ratings. I would hope Ford knows that. If they don’t then its a really easy decision on my part to skip it.

Sounds like the track pack is just bolt on stuff one could do on their own messing around in the garage.

Even worse was their other shows. They had the Rangers outside for people to drive around the block and only 1 on the floor behind a 10ft perimeter fence!! I was very curious about the interior space just wanted to sit in it check out the rear seat. Nope. The Ford booth was so poorly done they...

They did its called Aviator. You only lease air suspension SUVs unless your a 1% type

:chug: I might need to be more environmentally sensitive and go with the plugin Lincoln. 450hp 600ftlb seems more umm city slicker friendly :burnout:

The ST AWD wagons are basically just the new version of a sport wagon only they get published tow ratings. I thought Americans didn’t buy wagonso_O Yanking your chain guys. I find it interesting how Ford is doing performance packages on a heavy tall wagon. I get the interest in the power and...

Same here. The seating configuration limitations with Captains Chairs is simply a no go for me. My Subaru Outback offers more cargo vs seating configuration than this CC trend in the Mid sized SUV/wagons hitting the market today

    2020 Explorer

The Edge has the same 100lb rating. This pretty much has Ford liability Written all over it when all their Wagon style vehicles get the same load ratings. The Transit Connect likely due to being sold as a commercial van gets a 132lb limit with panoramic roof and 165lb with standard tin roof...

    2020 Explorer

Looks like the Flex was also listed with the same load numbers. Which case I doubt the new Explorer will be any different. That makes me think its a conservative liability rating vs physical structure limitation. No doubt stability in extreme situations is heavily impacted by the CG being higher.

    2020 Explorer

Interesting. My Subaru is 200lbs max when moving and 700lbs static ie like a roof top tent etc. My largest sailboat that gets car topped is 135lbs. 45lbs for the panoramic is terrible. Thats hardly two carbon fiber road bikes with the rack trays. Lol

    2020 Explorer

So the roof rack on the current models is only 100lb limit? Or is this actual weight on the roof panel its self? That seems really low given most Thule and Yakima racks are rated for 150lbs. My only ford right now is a Fusion Energi. My SUVs for the past 20 yrs have been Toyotas and Subarus. I’m...

    2020 Explorer

The trend of Captains chairs in the second row and no bench option in higher trims is frustrating as heck. Same goes for all the upper trims getting mandatory panoramic roof windows. I hope Ford packages options in a way that both top tech and seats can be had without turning the wagon into a...
