    What sounds like lifter noise?

Well, I walked into a deal for a new truck so I couldn't pass it up - gave me 4K for mine so I'm good with that

    What sounds like lifter noise?

thanks for the tip - I'll see what time I can carve out to further listen. BTW who makes an engine with chains on the rear side...I have a 73F100 with a stroked out 302 - I could tear that down and back together before I got the accessories off on these.

    What sounds like lifter noise?

I think I have isolated the noise to that front/passenger side of engine - seems to really be internal and not the belt tentioner. If it is the chain issues, and the noise isn't really that loud - noise at startup for maybe 2-3 seconds and 2500 rpms to about 3000 - maybe a bit higher and my...

    What sounds like lifter noise?

That is great info and certainly sounds pretty close - my vehicle though is a 2007, all the doc are late 1990s and early 2000s so its doesn't sound like it applies or am I reading incorrectly. In reality, at 142K miles on it, 12 years old and the vehicle in pretty good shape, economically it...

    What sounds like lifter noise?

I have not removed the belt because I can only get the noise with load. I guess for like Saturday I can remove it and see if it still makes noise at startup although I think the start noise is less consistent than the 2500-3500 rpm

    What sounds like lifter noise?

I've read a bunch about this but I'm not convinced that is what is going on. Here are the very specific circumstances/control tests I've done. 1. I hear a initial noise like bearings rolling on a table at startup - just like a second or two (I could easily imagine some metal part that was dry...

    Drivers Door Hinge

When I open/close the drivers door I get a decent "hitch" . You can tell the hinge(s) are wearing out. it's 2007 with 133K miles on it so probably about normal for this part. Initially I looked up on Rock auto and grab some pins and bushings - The bottom hinge doesn't look like it's...

CEL, Puddles and 5 minutes - need help

Breakthrough!!!! I think I figured it out or very close. I have to admit though my own stupidity in a way. I work for a command center for a very large IT organization and my job is all about data - millions of bits of data every 5 minutes...I didn't trust the data my truck was telling me. I...

    Need some identification help

    Need some identification help

2007 ST 4WD 4.0L V6. Below are a couple of pictures. I'm trying to identify exactly what the line/tube is that I have pointed out in the first picture. the second picture is just what it connects to mounted on the drivers side fender well. Last night while looking at something else I...

Anything else to look forward to?

@@@ None with the Detroit Axle hubs - ABS line had all the snap connectors on in right place - total plug and play. Took longer to get tire and brakes off

Anything else to look forward to?

@@@ Ball joints are easy in my opinon on the Sport Trac - go to Detroit Axle, order the whole a-frame with the ball joints in - bottom is 4 bolts - tops are 2 bolts. Very easy stuff and for maybe $150-200ish you can do all four. Detroit Axle has all the hub bearing and other things too - mine...

2010 sport trac bi-fold hard tonneau cover

I cheaped out and went the inexpensive route - I took a 26 inch bike inner tube, cut it in half, sliced it open - fitted behind all the screws on the hinge, trimmed and works like a charm. Every month or so I give it a coating of sunscreen just for some UV protection.

CEL, Puddles and 5 minutes - need help

I've got a strange situation - 2007 ST 4X4 V6 XLT 132,000 miles. I've had twice now that when going through a puddle - not a big one either - the engine shortly after will go into limp along mode and eventually die. Wrench flashes, CEL comes on and my cheap scan tool gives me all kinds of TPS...
