Update. I had to resolder about 3-4 months after my initial solder job, but I've since moved to San Diego where it never gets cold and I haven't had a problem. Thanks for all of the info guys. Very helpful.

I guess the third time is the charm. I was excited to see the thread on the blank radio fix, since mine has been out for 2-3 years. Interestingly, on the coldest day of the year (under zero) my radio lights would work for about 10 seconds every year ... I thought it was a teaser...
