Rattling at low rpm and high loads, timing chain rattle?

I think it would be pretty difficult to truly diagnose this noise (assuming yours is like mine) without pulling things apart a little. I can hear mine when I first start the truck just for a quick second when the engine first takes. Then I hear it at around 2500 rpm just when I'm releasing...

99 Explorer illuminated light headlight switch problem

Which year are these for? That looks like the blue light - which I do think is discontinued. The green light is still available.

99 Explorer illuminated light headlight switch problem

I'm sorry you had a bad experience with these folks. I've had very good luck with their parts people being able to look up and find parts. I can't comment on shipping to Canada - but shipping within the US seems fairly reasonable. At least the US Dollar is still dropping - maybe it'll be...

99 Explorer illuminated light headlight switch problem

Here you go. http://www.trademotion.com/partlocator/index.cfm?siteid=213787 Use the "Search by Factory Part Number" function and use this number F87Z13B765DA (assuming it is the same as my 1998 ranger).

99 Explorer illuminated light headlight switch problem

My local dealer wanted ~$11 for the light and ~$60 for the switch. You can get an aftermarket switch from your local parts shop (napa, checker etc.) for around $30.

Rattling at low rpm and high loads, timing chain rattle?

Another possibility is pushrod/lifter rattle. I get the same thing - in the same rpm range from my 4.0 OHV ranger.

99 Explorer illuminated light headlight switch problem

There is a "drop-in" replacement from Ford - the part number is in the other thread. I had to got through three different dealerships before I found one who would actually look it up instead of trying to sell me a new switch

    Electrical Switch Question

It could also be a part of an aftermarket remote start setup. Mine has one so the engine can't be started by the remote while the hood is up and you are working on it

    Head Light Switch Lamp

Well - I couldn't find any lightbulbs at radio shack that were the right size with the right leads. Plus I didn't really have any way to make the light green. So I decided to try LEDs. It turned out to be a bit of a mess. 1 LED just didn't seem to be enough light - and it didn't seem to...

    Head Light Switch Lamp

I know this is an old thread but I'm going through the same thing right now and thought I'd post up with the part # for the ford part. The little bulb and socket with the green cover is part # F87Z13B765DA and it costs $11.43 at my local dealer. I too am going to try the cheapo radio shack...
