I from time to time get asked if it is ok to reuse band adjustment locknuts. I always hedge my bet.... the threads will be a close enough fit to prevent MAJOR leakage in my opinion, and the nut also would slow it.... AND you COULD add a little silicone or RTV sealant at the case/nut juncture...
