Out of town visiting family for holidays. Parked outside in 1deg two nights ago and engine started hard, then would not idle. I tried many things, checking multiple fuses. The engine started idling after approx. 1 hour. It worked properly the rest of the day, then the problem recurred this morning, at -7deg. I have not been able to get it running today without applying the accelerator. The truck has 37k miles, and this is the first time I've experienced such a problem. Any help appreciated. Thank you!!!

I suspect an IAC problem.

Idle Air Control valve. Pretty common problem, mainly on SOHC engines.

4.0 Idle

I just went through the same problem. Idle Air Curcuit was replaced at a cost of about $400.00. But it did fix the problem. I was told it was a fairly common problem.

$400.00??? Whoa!!! Is your mechanic trying to pay off his mortgage early???

I hope you got kissed first!

What exactly did the "mechanic" do for the $400?

Have you put any gas line antifreeze in it lately? May have frozen water in your gas tank/lines.

Call your local police department and report a rape, cause your mechanic done raped you big time if he charged you $400 for 15mins work to replace a $60 part.

My dad works for NAPA and he got me one for 23 bucks and it took me 5 min to replace it.
