02 explorer computer swap?

I have a 02 explorer it had a theft light blinking so I called a locksmith he came out and said the computer was probably fried because it wouldn't communicate with his scanner I have another 02 for parts can I swap pcm s

Are you using a non chipped key?

its a chipped key

if you have the keys from the parts car then you can but you have to swap the ignition and door lock cylinders. it's probably a question for the locksmith if he could do the programming after the PCM swap in case you don't have the key from the parts car.

Also, check the fuses - I had a car where the data jack ran off the cigarette lighter fuse, which was blown. Car ran fine, but scan tools wouldn't work until the fuse was replaced.

I do have the keys!! does the pcm have to be reprogrammed too or just the keys? its the same year same model (xlt)

the keys are tied to the PCM (no programming), they have to go together otherwise you have to re-program the PCM.
