'02 Rumbling noise

Recently I have been getting a rumbling noise in my '02 sport trac,I'll describe as the noise that off road tires make on pavement. nothing is vibrating,the alighnment and tires I have now are good.It seems to be steady at all speeds,I'm at a loss for what is causing it.....

Wheel bearings?

Should there be play in the front wheels or should the be tight like a hub that is mounted on a 2wd spindle?

You should not have any play. One of my bearings going bad made the same sound, like off road tires.

Had same problem. Replaced shocks, wheel bearings, same noise. Found out that the body bushings (2 middle sets) had deteriorated.
