Ok I got a 2003 ford explorer Eddie Bauer with the digital hvac controls . Problem is the hvac headunit or whatever its called got wet from the above vent dripping water into it and shorted it internally. So I bought a used one from another x . It work flawlessly but here is where it gets weird . With it hooked up the message center will display reduced engine power . Every light is on in the the dash. It will run but it runs with reduced engine power. I think it thinks its being stolen. It is having compatibility issues . I know in a ford you can change speedometer and it willnt crank but Tue HVAC doing that. But yes I have disconnected it and it works x does fine no problems but if I hook it up it starts acting funny again soon as I crank it . Any help would be great its hot in Alabama this time of Tue year and its my wife's dd. Just too say again a/c works great and everything works on HVAC but having all problems that I stated before. Thanks.

Can somebody tell me anything?!.....

I can tell you a lot of things....this just isn't one of them.

Where did you buy the replacement? Could be you rec'd one that LOOKS like yours but might be out of some other Ford model. My wife's Expedition has an identical control, IIRC.

lol ! thats it . The parts # doesnt match . thanks that was easy . My part number is 2L24-18C612-AA then the one i got from junkyard looks the same but this part # 4L24-18C612-AB 2004 explorer donor. I was informed they made the internal parts diff 02-03 was 2L24-18C612-AA and the 04-05 were 4L24-18C612-AB. Gonna get the right one and i hope this helps someone one day . Remember the condesation from the above vent will drip on the wiring to the climate controller and into it then short it . Black tape the harness all the way to controller and replace foam in vent .
