friend has an 04 ford explorer v6 with the 4.0. Has had its issues with a ticking noise on startup but quickly goes away once it warms up and is faint. With the single degree temps we've had now on cold start up the check gauge light stays on as the oil pressure gauge does not come up then eventually the old wrench will pop up on the dash. Engine continues to rattle almost like its not getting enough oil to the top of the engine. If we pull it into the garage and let it "thaw" out it'll start up and oil pressure will work and engine will run ok with the minor ticking? any idea whats going on here oil is clean?
