I have an '04 Limited 4.0L V6 AWD with ~72,000 miles. For the last 15,000 miles, the transmission (or other component in the drivetrain) exhibits a "clunk" when slowing down. It is very consistent and seems to be the by product of a downshift. It normally happens when coming to a stop sign and slowing down at about around 10-15 mph.

Does anyone have an idea what is causing this?

Sounds like a ujoint to me. Jack it up, toss some jack stand under it and see if there is any play in the rear and front drive shafts.
