Could be fuel pump? Pretty common on the 3rd gen explorers

is there a way to check to see if im getting fuel to the engine? I am trying my best to get the fuel filter off but have the worst of luck with the ford tool i even got the plastic clip!

someone suggested it may have jumped time is that possible on a newer truck like this ? 165k miles

ok i got the filter off now still trying to see if the is a shroud to check to see if the fuel line is getting fuel

I believe the 90s models still had a Schrader Valve under the hood, at which fuel pressure presence can be determined. Remove protective cap after cycling ign. key to "on" to pump-up fuel line, depress inner valve (looks like a tire valve-stem), and fuel should spurt out- be careful of your eyes! If no fuel at all, look at fuel pump relay, then pump itself. This assumes the filter is not clogged! imp

Thanks alot man very helpful it turns out to be the timing after all.
