I have an 04 ford explorer. It was driving fine started the vechile put it in reverse backed up put it drive to continue on my journey that was short lived as I started up the road a little way then nothing, no noise no nothing it would not drive forward so I stopped put on my 4way put it in park shifted back to drive did not go forward so I put it in reverse to come back to the house reverse did not work. Took transmission apart but it was totally fine. Still put in a better rebuilt transmission. I can shift from park all the way down my ford just sits there not moving at all. Does anyone have any ideas on what this can be. The motor sounds excellent transmission is good but when I leave park to other gears like reverse it revives up and goes nowhere neutral nothing drive nothing the overdrive gears nothing please help. All gears revive up and vechile does not move. Thanks for any information I'm totally lost and no lights are on no check engine no abs no lights

Do you have 3rd gear?

Normally I would say your overdrive sprag went out, but if you have replaced the transmission and it is still not working then it's likely an electrical issue. Usually you would get codes though. Maybe you should check some fuses.

Checked fuses all good. Trying to chase an electric issue any ideas

Have you inspected the main wiring harness that attaches to the trans? I've had a couple explorers of that era that I have rebuilt the trans that I've had to replace that whole pigtail because most all the insulation had fallen off. I believe Rostra makes the replacement pigtail.
Also is this explorer 4wd or 2wd?

Do you change the torque convertor? If it was a solenoid in the transmission you would see some lights. If it is mechanical, the pump in the trans may be a problem or the torque convertor. If not, find an electrical specialist to check the computer.

2wd drive

You swapped the transmission? Because it still sounds exactly like an overdrive sprag. If the overdrive sprag goes you will lose all gears, but usually if you jack up the tires of the ground you can get some movement out of them while going between gears.
