04 Mountaineer AWD V8
Hey all,
I have an 04 Mountaineer V8 4.6 AWD, a few months back it started giving us trouble starting. The trouble was that it wouldn’t crank or click or do anything when the key was turned to the start position. This issue was intermittent and did get more and more consistent. Finally I got tired of it and replaced the starter, it was a pain but I got it done. It started fine a handful of times but went back to being unresponsive when turned to start. So I researched a bit more and replaced the ignition switch. This also didn’t solve the problem and the intermittent starting issue continued. This morning I went out to start the truck to warm it up and it was stone cold dead. It’s about 20 degrees today, so I just went to auto zone and bought a new battery. I put it in and the truck fired right up no problems. I went to the gas station to fill her up and she refuses to start now. Even had to tow her home. I don’t know what it could be, it never persisted this long and always eventually started. Could it be some kind of immobilizer or something Anti theft replayed as I did replace the battery? Thanks in advance for any help.

Check your engine ground. It can get corroded and cause many issues to include starting. Also, are any trouble codes showing up?

Can the transmission range sensor become loose? Did you buy your truck
Used, Itcould have an aftermarket started interrupter switch.
