'05 XLT almost stalls after starting

An odd issue, trying to gather more data:

If I start my Explorer, within ~10 minutes of shutting it off (ie, you get to your destination, turn the truck off, do your thing, start up to go elsewhere) it nearly stalls. RPMs seem awfully low, and then the truck 'recovers', and operates normally.

If there is a longer amount of time between starts, this issue does not occur.

--I wondered if there was an issue with the air filter, but it's fine. I have a K&N I cleaned and recharged just in case.

Not sure what the problem might be, though. Otherwise, truck works just fine.

Help?

I bet your IAC (idle air control valve) is clogged with carbon. I had the same problem on my '02. The valve clogs with carbon and the computer can no longer move the plunger in the IAC to regulate the proper amount of air flow during startup.

I had to take mine off and douse it in carb cleaner and that still didn't get it all out, I even had to pick chunks out with a pick as well.

A Haynes manual can show you the location of the IAC, usually right above the throttle body.

05 doesnt have iac valve, it uses electronic throttle body. Try cleaning it first and should fix problem. You mave a vacuum leak.
