- 2007 Mercury Mountaineer
Hey, all, I have another post about some transmission work I've been doing on my 2007 Mercury Mountaineer 4.0L V6 with the AWD option and the 5R55S transmission (194K Miles). You can find that here.
After doing some repairs by replacing the solenoid pack and valve body, I have heard to reset your shift points so the vehicle's computer can re-learn them, was to clear the memory completely. To do this I used a wire with alligator clips, one attached to the negative battery cable (removed from battery) and the other end attached to the positive battery cable/terminal.
That seemed to do the trick with draining the capacitors and clearing the PCM memory. However I'm not 100% certain it's re-learning the shift points correctly.
Does anyone know of a way other than wiping the memory completely to have the vehicle re-learn shift points?
