Our 2009 Explorer, 70,000 miles. It has just started to show the vehicle with the wavey lines icon on the dash. It stays illuminated and can't manually turn it off. The manual says need to get to the shop asap. Is there a diy fix? And how risky is it to drive like this? Just purchased 4 new tires for it last week. Could there be a connection?
Thanks for any feedback.

yes check to see if all 4 tires are the same size! they might have put 1 wrong size tire on and what i would do is not panic cause the light coming on disables the system it sees a fault either in a sensor or in a switch etc. if it was randomly coming on while driving and flashing that means its actually engaging and then that could be a problem. I would also go back to the tire shop and say you put my tires on and now my traction light is on etc. they will prob run a free scan etc to cover there butt and then tell you if its something they did or not and if not them then just deny the work and do it yourself.

Thanks for the feedback. The tires are all the same size, etc. Funny thing, this morning my wife is driving it to work and calls me to say the icon is no longer showing on the console??
We have an extended warranty on it so will run it by the dealer and see what they say. I don't know anything about this system and could eventually figure it out, but by the time I did my wife would be hounding me............
Thanks again

Lol your welcome and extended warenty is always a nice thing use it while you can.

My wife brought it to the dealer and they can not find anything wrong:confused:
Oh well, won't worry about unless it acts up again

Was there any stored codes? It should have had codes in the memory!

Tom

I don't know about it having any stored codes. Didn't know enough to ask about that.

Well to late now they prob would have reset it if they don't want to be bothered.

Thanks for the feedback. Next time I'll ask about the codes

A cheapo reader wont read power train codes, only engine. Only the stealership ones will. I bet you will have a hub assembly replacement in your not too distant future.

Thanks for the feedback. Next time I'll ask about the codes
HelloTcall,

Be sure to keep an eye on it, and if it happens again try to get your vehicle to the dealer.

Since this symptom is intermittent, I recommend trying to take photos or record video to document it while it’s happening. This can be an alternative if you cannot make it the dealer on that day.
