EXPLORER SPORT

Here's one for you. I heard that f150 2wd coils will fit a explorer 91-94 and give it a lift of 1 1/2" to 2". Anyone know if this is true. If it is, boy a guy could add up to a 2" lift for under$100.00. Not bad i think. Later all...ExplorerSport

I did that to a Ranger and the ride was too stiff. Found an older set of F-100 springs and the ride was better. Early to mid 70's should work. Just my .02

Thanks WAExplorer.Say when you put the coils on, did it lift your truck at all? If it did i don't see why people don't just go to the yard and pick up a set and buy add a leafs. The cost should be around $100.00. Hey spend $100 on this and buy a 3" body lift and you'll have a 4 1/2" to 5" lift for around $200 to $250. A 5" lift for $250...Not bad i think. Let me know how many inches you got out of it, ok. Thanks...Explorer-Sport Dead Link Removed

I did get about 2" from the coils. Took the stock height RS5000 shocks right to the end of their travel.

Well i think i'm going to try the springs and add a leafs. I was thinking of the superlift 5.5" but with a 3" body lift, i would have 8.5" of lift and i think the lift laws in Wi are 5". Thanks for the info WAExplorer. If anyone wants to see what a 3" body lift with 31" tires looks like, e-mail me and i'll send a pic. I'm thinking next month i'm going to change my springs. Should be fun Dead Link Removed Also i built a custom overhead console, want some ideas for your explorer, just e-mail. Later...EXPLORER-SPORT

EXPLORER SPORT - I just purchased a set of 5.5 springs from Valley Spring Service, CA, for aroung $150.00, + ship, made to fit the weight of the Navajo and give me good articulation. You could order yourself a set for any lift you wanted to try. The use of the F150 coils will stiffen up your ride to the point of, well something similar to a buckboard. You know the thing that was used in the early days of the USA, it had no springs. Your wheel base is relatively short and you will feel the front hit the bump and then the rear and the vehicle will bounce, frt/back/frt/back...
Just my thoughts.
Good Luck,

Explorer Sport,

Did you ever try those F150 coils?

For those of you that want about 1.5" of lift you can get an F-150 spring SEAT which is like a spacer that goes under your spring for about $30. Then the ride is the same as stock. Then you can get an add a leaf or shackles for the rear.

I would definately do that but honestly I'm looking for a stiffer ride and to keep my 6" lift. Check out my other thred that I started that about Bronco/F150 Coils that explains my intent.
