I just bought this SUV yesterday (40,000 miles) and promptly found out that you can't close the liftgate window. However, the liftgate DOES close. The window does not.

Am I looking at an expensive repair or is this something that would be covered under warranty?

This is too bad because we were planning on taking this vehicle on a 9 hour trip early tomorrow morning. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Wade

Its hard to give much of a solution without knowing more of the problem.

Can you close the liftgate window somewhat, does it not latch, or does it not move at all?

Is there anything jammed around it?

Seems like its a warranty repair if its the latch mechanism, the hydraulic structs, or the catch on the glass is bent.

Did the latch that holds the glass shut somehow end up in the lock position? If so, release the glass as you would if it were shut and manually try to unlock the latch. It shouls be like an open U shape ready to accept the hook on the window. If it is like an O it might be in the locked position.

Liftgate window shuts now...I have no idea what the wife did..

I thought I exhausted all avenues and she goes out, comes back in in less than a minute claiming it shuts now. She claims that she hit the release on the remote a few times and gave it a good slam.

I wonder what the heck I did (or didn't do). All of the catch hardware (release catch/spring and hook) looks to line up correctly. You guys have no idea how long I struggled with that thing. Geeze.

like the other post says , the latch probably got closed, and the latch was just bouncing off it .if she hit the release then it worked , more than likely thats all it was
