So after few weeks of owning the 16 explorer, I noticed the passenger rear door with it closed, the rear part of the door sits out about 1/16 to 1/8 of inch. I can push against it and it will go flush with rear quarter then comes right back.

No wind noise at hwy speed.

The door isn't Mis-aligned. It looks like the striker needs to go in 1/16 to 1/8 inch or latch need to go further out.

I know the car it's under warranty but how hard to adjust the door?
do I adjust the striker on the body or latch on the door?

Anyone done it can provide some inside info will be appreciated.

Again, if it's too much trouble, I'll just let dealer deal with it. But wouldn't mind to try it first.

Hi lsp408,

I recommend heading to your dealer to have this checked out. Please let me know if that's the route you go down. :)

Mine is the same way & I've seen other 5th gen Explorer(s) with the same problem. Did you ever get yours adjusted?

I've noticed that my driver's door is off (low) by about 1/8 ". I pointed it out to manager of the service department when I was just in for service. He said they could probably align it if I wanted it done. I told him I might get back to him on that. In the meantime he will make a note of it on my file. Not overly concerned about it since it's a lease.

My gas door was way out. I adjusted a bracket bolt on the inside of the quarter panel and it fixed it. I keep telling myself, it may be a 30K vehicle, but its still a Ford.....
