Hi all!

Long time listener, first time caller.

I have a '16 explorer sport and for a while now I've been dealing with an issue where I can lock all the doors with either of my two key fobs and also manually at the door panel. However, when I walk up to the passenger side door with or without a key fob it opens just by pulling the handle. This does not happen with any other door.

I'm looking for some potential troubleshooting steps I can take to identify the issue since I don't have access to a ford dealership for diagnosis, but even better would be any experience anyone has with fixing this issue would make my day.

I recently read another post mentioning the same thing but I believe it was in the 6th gen forum. It was just a few days ago and did not have any resolution posted yet.

Hey Peter thanks for the warm welcome!

Yeah I saw some other similar issues on Reddit but still no resolution. Any thoughts on a good approach to troubleshooting this to find the source? I'd hate to start throwing parts at this because I can't afford it lol

Wasn't there another thread recently, at the driver side wire harness plug through the door, one of the pins had corroded and was causing a similar issue?

I keep trying to find that thread like a long lost sibling and nothing. I imagine it's probably something like that because there was some water intrusion last year through the sunroof because the drains clogged up. I had to replace the motors and everything to do with the electronics there.

I'm guessing as things corrode from that event I'm going to start seeing a lot more issues pop up (assuming the water intrusion caused this one).

Here ya go, finally

I'm not sure if that is the same issue but it would be interesting to find out. The OP isn't able to lock that door from either the fob or the lock button. It would appear to be an issue with the locking mechanism.

The passenger door will lock or unlock by touching the handle if the fob is nearby. If its unlocking by touch with no key fob near by then I suspect the intelligent access is throwing a code (Would need ForScan to check DTC history) or door lock actuator issue.
