Hi folks. I am new here. I hope this is the best section to post this question under.
For the last two years I have been building a 1964 f100 with my step father. I bought a 2003 crown vic IFS and put it on the f100 frame with a 1997 explorer axle in the back.
We built a 302 stroked to a 331 that should make around 400hp.
After letting the project sit for a while, I am ready to get back into it. The only problem is, my step father has bought a house in the mountains and would really like this truck to be 4x4. However, the garage at the house is rather short so the truck needs to be relatively low. After doing some research I came across an explorer frame as being a decent swap.
So here is the point of this thread
My step dad wants this to be an EMP proof vehicle, meaning no computers. Manual everything, carb'd, all that jazz.
We also want to use the 302 we have already built, so the trans/tranfer case needs to be able to handle that.
So. What trans will bolt up to my 302 and a 4x4 transfer case, but will also bolt into the explorer frame with minimal modification. Will a trans from a 5.0 explorer work (is it computer controlled) and I will need an older manual shift transfer case that will fit it as well.
Any advice or input you may have is appreciated and welcomed.
