My brother just got his Skyjacker 3" Suspension and 2" body lift for his '74 Bronco 4x4.

The shop was askin $800 to install it all with a 5 year warranty on it. That seamed a little steep to me, so i was wondering if the suspension was possible to do at home with a floor jack, 4 jacks stands, 3 people and a weekend?

Me, and the others have never put a lift kit on, so we don't really know what we may or may not be getting into.

With these lifts on this vehicle, i am guess that extended brake lines will be needed. Does anyone know about drop pitman arm, driveshaft length, or any other issues that he is going to have to deal with?

Also, nothing came with instructions, so does anyone know of a good place to go to get them, or a write up on something like this, or possibly a set of instructions they have laying around?

I am clueless on the whole lifting idea, i know about lowering more...

Thanks in Advance,

Evan

A three inch should not be too difficult to install, and you shouldn't have any driveline problems. As far as brake lines, I am not sure about early bronco's, I would lift and then check it out, body lift is pretty straight forward, if it didn't come with steering extention, then at least loosen steering column before you lift body up, then retighten after lift is done. Drop pittman arm may not be needed on a three inch lift. Do besure to check fan shroud clearance before you start it up. If you can think of any specific questions then post and I will try to help if I can.

hmmmmmm.... i have a 3.5 duff lift on mine and a 2" body, its a 75. what do you want to know? my suspension was alot more involved than the skyjacker, as mine had shock hoops and extended radius arms. basically, the 'jacker should be just replacing the springs and shocks. real easy to do. on the body lift, loosen the steering column (under the dash) and re-tighten after the blift is on. ask some more questions, as my memory is bad and i will only remember some things as you ask them. as for the extended brake lines, get 'em. the stockers will be bloated/half rotted rubber and are not long enough if it ever starts to flex. you can get 'em cheap through either...

also, on the body lift, you will proly have to remove the boot over the transfer case shifter and cut the hole out bigger. his 74 will have what is known as the J-shift. no need to extend it, just cut the hole out a little bigger so it will be able to shift. do this after the lift is on, so you will know were and how much to cut.

He has duel shock mounts for all 4 wheels. Does this require welding or anything to put on?

yup. i assume his rig doesnt have duel mounts already? the rears will be a copy mount of what is already there, and will weld on to the frame. pretty much the same for the front.
