A/C works great, but a little while back the HI/MAX FAN speed 4th setting doesn't work (manual A/C)

The A/C is still on (pushed in, orange A/C light on) and if you pop it back to the 3rd setting get ready for very cold air LOL.

I have replaced the thingy (tech term) thats on the out side of the A/C box, No change, I looked and moved around the Relays no change. Run it without a relay, no fan speed works. lol

Any whats the next thing to look at after changing the mod on the outside?

Thanks a ton...

This Texan down here in Houston needs his HI fan speed back LOL!!

Hi/max fan fuse

I am pretty sure there is a seperate fuse for the max setting on your fan.

my 06 explorer is doing the same, but it starts on 3rd fan speed, which fuse box did u check

I havn't found a fuse yet for the high speed only. I didn't spend a lot of time on it because I was going to take it to the shop.

Read on another thread and they said it was the blower motor resistor

yup, changed it... the old one didn't seem like anything was wrong with it. But it has a new one in it...

this one is quite strange. Most problems I have seen like this are the lower settings dead due to the resistor module. Looking at the schematic, I would have to say it is either a bad switch or a wire broken. I would lean to the switch unless you have been doing some work in there. The switch gives you the ground for your blower. Possible that the switch contact for the high setting has broken. I suggest to pull your a/c controller inside and jumper the orange/black wire to ground and see if your blower comes on high. If it comes on, then your switch is bad. Hope this helps you.

You have come to the same conclusion i did. I believe it to be the round switch now. This is a 1993, but it's in very very good shape. Maybe one of the best 1993's I've seen. I've owned it for 11 years now.

A radio was put in it a long time ago, but the a/c high setting worked just fine after that for years. I think the switch went bad and just doesn't make contact on the high setting.

So your saying to basically take it out like you would a radio, jumper the orange/blank together and see if the high setting comes on and that would say for sure it's the switch.

IF it is the switch, where would I get the part from? Any ideas?

Thanks a ton we'll find out soon if in fact this is the problem, i'll report back as soon as i do it.

no...The high Blower wire will be colored both colors, orange and black. You can jumper it to the black wire or just jumper it to a good ground nearby. You should be able to pull it out and just pull the harness plug from it and do what you need to do without disconnecting the cable controls.

If you get in doubt, Don't jumper something you are not sure of. We have a little saying about electronics working on planes. Everything works on Magic Smoke. Once you let the smoke out of the electronics, it'll never work right again and most likely need to be replaced.

Just to reiterate, The wire will most likely be orange with a black stripe. That is one wire. The ground wire to jumper to will be only black. Not trying to say anything about intelligence, but some people move tend to move faster than they think. I don't want you to mess anything up. Mine is a 92 and she went from a $1500 vehicle to get by in to one I hope to keep for many more years.

Yea I understand, I might of figured it out a orange and black wire after i got into it but thanks for the heads up. I've been slinging wrenches a long time used to rebuild fox body mustangs. Still do from time to time..

Finding a wire and grounding it for a bit not a problem, rewiring a car with a painless harness now thats a job lol... I've seen plenty of the magic smoke in my time ;)

It's the fact I don't want to release any magic smoke that I'm asking around about this now that I'm down to it being a switch or something in the wiring.

At least it's not a shot in the dark... lol

Thanks for your help!
