Yeah baby, I have air conditioning in my 1993 Ex now!

Bought this truck as a "family hauler" and did a bunch of work to the front end, some body rust repair, and finally decided to tackle A/C.

Got the system cleaned, compressor and orifice tube and the accumulator replaced, then evacuated and charged.

A/C seems to work, EXCEPT it works a lot better once the thermostat opens.

I do not have vacuum leaks -- checked with propane.

At this point, the only thing I can think of is starting to wrap the heater hoses and the accumulator in some insulating foam, but I don't know if that would make much of a difference. I also think i might change the cabin air filter, if I can find it :D

The vents respond to me changing the levers from "Panel" to "Max a/c" and "hot" to "cold" appropriately, so my guess is all those actuators are working.

Could it be coincidental with the thermostat opening? Not sure what difference it makes- nothing comes to mind- just a thought.

A/C ok now

I don't know, guys, but looks like its working fine now, and the only thing I did (after the new compressor, orifice tube and accumulator that is) was to beat (gently) on that black plastic thing that is in the cab, in front of the passenger seat... don't know if that has anything to do with it or not... maybe it helped loosen some kind of blend door there or something?
