I have a problem with the explorer sport that i just bought. Actually two problems.

First problem is that the volume on the stock radio doesn't want to go down it just goes up. Does anyone know what's wrong with it?

Second and more important problem is that, the clutch is new in the car but whenever i try to put it in gear (after i've stopped, or put it into neutral) it is hard as **** to get back into gear. I really have to force it in there.

I don't really care about the radio problem i just want to know what i can do about the possible "transmission problem."

Does anyone know what could be wrong with it?

Thanks for your time.

have you ever tried double-clutching and then try putting it into gear?

your clutch cylinder may need to be either bled or possibly replaced

try bleeding it if possible and see if there is any difference.

if you don't know how to bled it, run a search on the site, you'll find some results

Exactly how do i "double clutch?"

Thanks for your reply.

Double clutching comes from transmissions without sycronicers. If you have to double clutch an Explorer, either you clutch need work or your transmission need work.

Double clutching is the process of manually sycronicing the engine speed with the transmission speed. To double clutch, you put the transmission in netural, use the throttle (tap the gas peddle) to increase the speed of the transmission, then quickly using the clutch shift into gear.

This method of shifting can supposedly be used when your clutch is completly broken. By matching engine and transmission speed you should be able to shift without using the clutch. Now that being said, Iwould not do that to my transmission uless it was an emergency.

It is very commly used in in heavy trucks because their transmissions do not have sycronicers.

If you have the mazda transmisson (m5od) it is soposed to have atf in it. A lot of people, including myself, have found that ours had gear oil in them. With the atf the syncros get properly lubricated, and it shifts much easier.
