Welcome to this forum! The newer engines are SOHC. The older engines are OHV. Your vehicle uses the EEC-IV system while the newer vehicles use OBD-II. You might be better off looking for another OHV engine.

94 ranger engine change
you can put in a newer engine just make sure that you dont go any newer than 2000. If you go newer you will need to get the complet wiring harness.

You can change your engine to a newer one just make sure you dont go any newer than 2000.If so you will need to get the complet wiring harness with it.:rangerred:
