Hi all! First post on here. I was given a 1995 Explorer XLT as a high school graduation gift back in 2006. It's been a good car but I'm having trouble with the CD player. It came stock with a 6 disc CD changer, but I don't think it has the premium sound package (no subwoofer). The CD changer would load discs but wouldn't actually play them, giving a "No CD" error like it couldn't detect them.
Instead of fixing the CD changer, like I should have, I decided to try and replace it with what I thought would be a drop-in replacement (it was a Ford CD player, same size... how dumb I am). I removed the old head unit and in the process broke the green wire off one of the harnesses. The new HU didn't work with the old harnesses, so I tried to solder the green wire back into the harness and put it back in.
Now, the old HU will not turn on, but when I turn the lights on in the car, it lights up. This is a picture of a HU that looks just like mine:
I checked the fuses in the fuse box next to the driver side front door, and they're all good. Any ideas on what is wrong with the head unit?
Thanks!
