1996 EATC problem?

OK, my 96' E.B. is still having a problem with the a/c. Fixed the blend door problem and replaced the low pressure switch. The a/c worked perfect for all of half a day, then the a/c compressor stopped working. I replaced the lo-pressure switch again and it worked for about 20 minutes and then again for the same results. I have no power showing at the lo-pressure switch connector but can jump it from the battery and the compressor kicks on. It shows a reading of 35-45 on the low side when it's working. Now mine has the nomally "bullittproof" EATC but I'm at a loss on which wires to check. I've taken the EATC unit apart to check for broken connections and wiggled the little "black box" inside it. Nothing seems to work. Found a deal on the "Bay" that offers to rebuild the EATC unit with a lifetime warranty, but before I do that, I'm looking other things to check. Have read a ton of posts on this site but none seem to fit my problem exactly, but then my eyes have glazed over from reading. Should I replace the hi-pressure switch?

When mine did this it was a problem with the little black relay box on the circuit board needing to be re-soldered. Before you do anything else, try re-soldering where that relay is connected to the circuit board. The connection on mine wasn't really visibly bad, but this fixed it. I searched and found some excellent instructions on this site to make the repair - but I don't remember where they were. :scratch: Good luck.

Well after reading Bobflood's response and the post that lead him to solve his problem, I've decided to send the unit off for a rebuild. Had a problem with it losing vacuum and blowing out of defroster vents also which could be a related issue. Besides, now I'll get to drive the Bullitt to work. Stay tuned boyz and girlz.....

Ended up buying a new EATC in . Installed it and BAM!......no a/c So back to the basics. Checked the fuses, all good, switched around the underhood relays again, no change. An hour later went in the house, had a shot of Jack Daniels Honey. Came back out fired up the X, this time I cut on the a/c then rechecked the fuses again for the, at least, 9th time. Got to the a/c fuse and the compressor clicks on, let go and it clicks off. Turns out the a/c fuse was loose in the socket and was making contact when I pushed on it with the test light showing power thru it and then backed out when I let go, if I had cut the a/c on during the previous testing I'd caught it before I bought the new unit. Replaced the fuse with the newer designed slightly larger one, the old one was the original smaller design. Don't feel so bad since I'm a "backyard grade C ace mechanic" and not a pro, but a $150.00 lesson learned. Time to
