1996 Eddie Bauer Control Trac speedo and o/d flashing

My speed odometer is acting up. It fluctuates and flutters mostly at low speeds. Plus my O/D OFF light keeps flashing. Does anyone have any suggestions for diagnosing and fixing the these problems?

This is due to a faulty VSS. Located on the tailshaft of the tranny, (or on the top drivers side corner of the transfer case on a 4X4) the VSS costs under 20 bucks at auto zone. Easy swap and replacement. Chances are, if the VSS is your issue, your odometer will be out of whack.

Be aware though the flashing O/D off light is your check transmission light. That could be the VSS too!
