Hello,

Battery died in my 1996 Explorer XLT (battery was very old). Replaced battery w/o issue, vehicle starts/runs fine, but now remote power door lock remote doesn't work and driver side keypad does not work. Have tried both key fob remotes that worked fine prior to battery dieing and get no response from lock, unlock, panic button. Is there a reset of some type? Have searched forum, but not finding similar issue. Checked fuses, but not seeing any failure.

Thanks!

Scott

My battery died, and had the same issues. I ended up replacing the RAP module with a junkyard unit. Matched part numbers both both units. All problems solved. The cost from a local pick-a-part yard was $20 since they called it a Computer Brain, and was sold AS-IS. I could have saved a bit getting one off eBay.

You could try to unplug it for a bit to see if it clears itself up. That didn't do anything in my case.

FYI: one of the harness wires might have a yellow tag attached to it showing the part number. It matched in my case, but could be different just to warn you.

To make things easy if you replace the RAP module, you could just unplug the old one, and plug the replacement in, and use zipties to secure it. That way, you don't have to deal with the removal of the interior panel.

Thanks for the great info toypaseo. I tried the unplug method, let it sit overnight and plugged in again with no success. Will begin looking for a RAP module. Got the part # from the yellow tag you mentioned -- F57F-15603-AA, date 03/12/96. A quick check of Ebay didn't turn up one, so will look around the salvage yards.

I would attempt to read what's on the actual module. That yellow tag might be different.

If the part number you mentioned is it, I think you are missing a K... F57F-15K603-AA
