I have a 1996 XLT with a stock 6 CD changer in the console. I want to install a 10" MTX sub in the rear cargo storage net. Can I hook the sub right up to my stock unit or do I have to get a new head unit. And do I need an amp, if I do could I hook it up to the stock unit? Thanks for the help.

i dont know if you can hook a sub up to the stock head unit, but if you can you will for sure need an amp the stock head unit puts out next to nothing when it comes to power

Moving to Audio. Can still be discussed there

yeah you can hook the amp up to the fact headunit. either use the amp's high level input or get a line out converter and tap into the factory amp above the pass. rear fender while you got the whole panel off

I changed my mind, I'm gonna get two 10" Sony Xplods and a matching 1200 watt Xplod amp. Can I hook up these up to the stock 6 cd changer or is a new head unit required?

same deal. use a line out converter or use the amps speaker level input. tap into the output side of the amp above the pass rear fender

you can hook it up to the stock head unit but a: it wont be as loud or clean as it woudl be with an after market head unit and b: you will not have any control over the level of bass. ie, you will be bumping on a rap song and then just as much on a country song. hey youre in dalton? cool, im in rome, my roommate is from chattsworth
