1996 XLT real axel question on movement

I was replacing the rear discs, put the wheel back on fingertightened the nuts, pulled and pushed to make sure it was seated and noticed that the pasenger side rear axel will move in and out 1/4 inch.

Anybody have any ideas on what the cause is and also what is the fix?

As far as I know some movement is normal, but how much I don't know.

Up to 1/8" is normal. More than that you should rebuild your limited slip diff (new clutch disc set).
