Ok i have a 1997 explorer sport (4.0) and i was just wondering if its possible to hook subs up to a stock head unit, its my DD and i just want some bass, and dont want to go to an aftermarket head unit because i like the looks of the stocker,

So is there a way to hook up subs to a 97 explorer head unit?

Thanks guys!

In my "Budget Bass" project, I added an aftermarket amp and sub to my OEM non-JBL system. The high/low converter was a PAC OEM-2. Phase Two changed the amp and sub to different ones.

so would it be easier just to buy a head unit, and use my amp + subs that way?

im really just looking for a cheap was to hook my 2 subs up in the back of my explorer without getting a gay head unit, when i like the stocker...

but it looks as if there is no way around it.

 Mine is hooked to the stock stereo...

ok well how can i hook 2 10" rockfords to the stock stereo.. what do i need to do? hook them to the factory amp?

For starters, you'll need an amp to hook up subs to the stereo. Add on a high/low converter, RCA cables, power wire, remote wire, ground wire...
