I am looking for advice on what I could try. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. It has 130k on it and has never had transmission issues or slips. Suddenly the flashing overdrive light came on and it won't start out in drive. It will start and run in 2nd and reverse like normal. If i'm on the highway, i can manually put it into drive from 2nd and it will work fine until I stop. Then i have to put it into 2nd, get some speed, and manually put it back to drive. My mechanic drove it and said the transmission will need replaced, but i don't think he did much testing. Are there any sensors or switches I could try? I did check the fluid.
