Hello Folks.

My name is Lucas and I am new in this site. I just acquired a 1998 ford explorerer 2doors. I got it very cheap as the old owner doesnt wanted as the carn do not starts. It cranks but it doesnt fire. I the beginning I spray some gas on the intake trotle valve and the car started for some seconds and I realized that the problem was the fuel pump. I did some researchs and I learn abou the auto shut off switch at the pasenger side. I check it and bypass- hotwired and the pump started to work but for some reason the carn do not fire neither with a bit of spray on the intake. I think I might have an electrical problem some where as I do not have a spark.

can any of you give me some guidance on where the problem can be. I am from Panama in central america and if I have to take the car to the ford dealer to hook it to the computer-scanner, it will cost me the tow crane and other expenses that I do not want to pay for now. I am kind of doit your self person so, with some guidance from any of you, I am sure that I can fix it.

thanks..

Lucas

If the SOHC engine then try unplugging the crank position sensor and plugging it back in a couple of times to clean the contacts in the plug.
