Mysteriously engine has had climbs in idle with no real input. Excursions can be 1 k rpm and has been as bad as 3k. There seems to be little rhyme or reason for the excursions

New IAC, cleaned MAF - went away for some time but now is creeping back. I keep my throttle body pristine. Thermostat, housing and sensors are new

Original 00m12 done at 45 k. Planning to do 00M12 again at 150 k. due to concerns with front tension er.

Is it really a vacuum leak that comes and goes ? Will 00M12 resolve it ? When I do the 00M12 should I have some upper and lower intake manifolds ready in case they are cracked ?

Relative to tensions - do we really need to prime them - it doesn't make sense to me.

The MAF sensor can't alter the airflow. It only measures it. If the engine is rotating at 3K rpm a significant amount of air is entering the intake system. Assuming that the throttle plate is not sticking open I suggest checking for broken or cracked vacuum hoses - especially at the ends or where there are bends.
