JUST started today...
I was driving and it started quietly and got loud..
a pusling grinding noise coming from drivers side wheel area.
I don't think it's brakes related cuz I pushed the brakes and nothing changed plus I just put rotors and pads on not too long ago.

I LOOKED at it in a parking lot and didn't see anything..drove it away a bit later and sound was gone.
Now wife calls me and says the Grinding is back as she's driving home.

It's a pretty loud grinding noise.
Gunna have to pull it apart in morning
Any Thoughts???

wheel bearing maybe? did you have a hard time removing the old rotor? Use a BFH?

didn't have a hard time removing rotor but i guess it very well could be a bearing that took a dump...
I just never figured the sound would actually go away for awhile and come back..
during the same day

dust shield possibly? Hard to say, can't really think of anything that we make the noise, then randomly go away...

Does turning the wheel from side to side as you drive have any effect?

I asked about the rotor because they sometimes stick due to rust and hitting it with a big hammer with strong blows can wreck a weak bearing. Something to keep in mind for others.

if you said BEARING....

GRAB AN XMAS COOKIE!

apparently it was bearing and maybe the difference in heat that was affecting the sound on/off..not sure on that one.

but got a new bearing assembly from NAPA for $128 bucks and replaced somewhat easily.
Cold garage..no car lift
