What cam can I replace my stock cam with the least amount of replacing other parts? Like, computer etc. Im currently putting my 68 montego 4 door on the frame of the explorer. Im hoping for suggestions, what type of cam. I also want to replace as little as possible.

How long do you want it to last?

Im hoping for as long as possible. Its a donor for my muscle car, so i was wondering if a stock mustang cam would be the way to go. Its got gt40p heads. I want to keep those for the time being.
At the very min. to do a cam change you will need the camshaft, gaskets, and timing chain components. If it is a roller cam you should be able to reuse your stock roller lifters, If your pushrods and rocker arms are in good shape you should be able to re-use them so long as you keep all parts to be re-used in order and back into service in their original locations. If your head bolts are TTY (torque to yeild) you will have to install new ones.

Is there any modifaction to the cpu? If not that would be awesome. Plus, thankyou. Can you recomend a cam I should use? If not its okay, Im looking for an everyday driver cam or a lumpy cam.

For what it's worth, I had to get longer pushrods with a cam change. Be sure to check them.
