1999 Explorer - rattle & rough idle fixed

Hi,

Just want to let you know this was done my me (with just basic mechanical skills). Has taken me about 6 hours of work:
Installation of the 00M12 kit.

Indeed this fixed the rough idle when cold and no chain rattle sound anymore. Very pleased indeed

The only difficulty thing was to get (create) an appropriate sized tool to (de-)install the chain tensior. Finally my wife offered a tool from her lawnmower and with minor adjustments it did the trick.

I don't get why it took six hours. I replaced that tensioner on my 98 SOHC and it took me maybe 30min. Unless your intake gaskets need replacing, they don't need to be removed.

Anyways glad it fixed your problem.

Disregard my above post I see you did the recall and not just the tensioner.
