2 broken abs ring within 2 months

Just bought my 06 explorer 4 months ago with 90k on it, within 4 months ive put about 5k on it and broke both rear driver and passenger side abs rings. My mechanic says he's never seen this many broken rings before in such a short amount of time. Just wondering if the 4th Gen explorers are susceptible to this or just maybe the year. I should be good for awhile with the rear rings as they were replaced with new ones but do the front brakes have abs rings as well, should I be worried about them?

The front has abs tone rings but they are built into the front hub bearings! Which have to be replaced as a whole unit.

If he put the upgraded ABS rings in the rear, you should be good for ever. I replaced one of my rear rings before 100K, the other one is still good at 177k. But both going at about 90 k I would say it's acceptable. The original rings were about 1/4 wide, maybe less, the new design is much better, about twice that wide.

Is this issue one that is caused by excessive cold? Maybe more of an east coast problem than a west coast one?

I also wonder if there are any rear suspension alignment considerations when making this repair?
