2" lowering by a shop for 150

mine aren't trimmed, yet. I went up to the grand canyone for the weekend about 200 miles from phoenix and at highway speed, 90-95 mph, it rode great. I did squash her down onto the rubber a couple of times when i got up there and tried to go down the dirt road to my camp sight. I will probably get around to doing some trimming later this week. I smoked a IS300 on my way back to Tempe tonight. Those guys think they are the coolest. It was tons of fun! We went all the way up to 65 with him struggling right off my rear up to 40 then on my rear quarter panel the rest of the way, it was great. anyone, know how fast they are supposed to be.

Hey Expo, I have an AWD '97, I really want to lower it, I am wondering if that is possible since it is an AWD ex. Also, Yomie, I tried lowering my '92 4x4, but I just hit the stops and the shop wouldn't align my wheels for me, HOw did you lower your 4x4?? I tried 2" lwering springs and 2" blocks. Also, is it possible to bag a 4x4?

this is the oldest thread of all time.

anyways, mine is awd and there are no problems because of awd. you should be able to go as low as 3 or 4 inches.

Do you know how to do that?

yes, your gonna do a torsion twist and use blocks and cut your bumpstops down a little.

you will need an alignment and new camber adjusters.

search for "going for the gusto"

AWD ex;s have torsion bars?? that is soo much easier than wut i tried to do w/ my first gen 4x4, but the torsion bars twist down only like 1 1/4 inches i thought. Blocks i can buy at like autozone or sumthing thas cool. Wut else do i have to do to the front end to go down like 4 inches? Do i really have to trim my bumper stops alos?

Oh yeah this is the oldest thread, my truck now has 5" of lift :D

LOL, sorry guyz, I just did a search and this came up.

I started reading the top of this thread, didn't pay attention to the date and was like - What the...? I thought You were already lowerd. LOL Now I see what is going on here.

Are you talking about me Black Magic? Lol that pretty fonny, I wish to drop about 5" total, does that involve a lot of work, I have AWD, or is 2" about as low as I can go being cheap and easy. thanks

Well I an 4x4 and was able to get 3.5 in the front. I think you will have to C-notch the rear and do some custom work up front to get 5 inches.

look at spending about $1000 to get 5" on the front and have it ride/align right. it will all have to be custom, and $1k is a lowball estimate. most of the newer sports can get 3-3.5" in front, and most 4 doors only 2-2.5" inches. it will vary from truck to truck.

yes. it fixed the camber, but ruined the caster. my measurements were crude. also, it rode like crap (as i expected) and needed coilovers. that would be even more fabbing on top of an extra $400. even then, it would still have bad caster. it looked good though sitting @ 5".

a local guy here that specializes in race car chassis said he would build me some control arms and set it up for coilovers for a grand. it would have to be after hours, so it would take a week or two. id rather just bag it.

You'd still need some sort of custom arms to lay frame though.
