2 quarts ATF out 07 sport trac, will I make it to dealership

Dont ask how, bottom line is I have drained 2 quarts of ATF out of my 07 Sport Trac. I have read the sticky on adding ATF. I do not have, but could purchase items required to do this. I was wondering how detremental it would be to drive to the dealership 20 mins away to repalce the 2 quarts rather than go purchase the required tools.

2 quarts isnt bad .. but accelerate nice and easy, no race starts off the light

Welcome to this forum! Some transmissions are sensitive to a low fluid condition, and don't always shift (they feel like they are in neutral). Did you check any local auto parts stores to see if they have Mercon V?

If you have enough fluid for forward engagement you will be fine.

transmission engages in forward and reverse no problem. The wife is taking it in Monday, she will never let me live this one down. I felt like the trans. would be okay to make it in, just needed a vote of confidence from the forum. Many thanks IZwack, Brklnbay and Glacier991.

All is well. Wife took truck (07' Sport Tac)to transmission shop, guy checked ATF level, and added three qts all free of charge. Will keep him in mind if my 99' Explorer Sport ever needs some help.
