I have a 2000 Ford Explorer and just recently its trans has an issue. I cannot put it into park. It will go into every other gear, but not park. I have checked what fuses I think I need too, as well as trans fluid. Is there something else I should check?

There is a small wheel with teeth, and a notch that goes into it. An actuator pulls the notch out when you step on the brake pedal in order to enable the shifter to move.
