Hopefully there's an expert online right now! I'm in the middle of replacing my Injectors and "Adapters". Sorry for so many words but I want to be clear and I don't want to have to take everything apart again . . .

On the Passenger side all of the adapters came out with the fuel injectors and they are the same style as the replacements (F77Z-9G512-AA). The top edge of the adapter (where the injector goes through) is square to the outside circumference of the adapter. I inserted the oiled adapters as far as I could by hand and then used the round end of a 1/2" extension to set them flush with surface of the head.

Do I have them installed correctly or should they be recessed into the head? - I never laid eyes on the adapters before they came out with the injectors so I don't know for sure if they should align with the surface (as I currently have them set) or be recessed into the head. It took a good amount of pressure to get them seated where they are, They are a hardish plastic material, I don't want to risk cracking them by applying more pressure on them unless someone tells me I need to.

The adapters on the Driver side stayed in the head but they are a different (original?) style. The top inner edge of the adapter tapers inwards at about 45 degrees. They DO sit recessed into the head but being a different shape I'm not sure I want to trust this as an installation guide.

How do I get the Driver side adapters out of the head with out pieces falling into the intake runners? I need to replace them because Bank 2 is where I've been getting my fuel and misfire codes.

Thanks,
Dan

I've answered the first question for myself. I inserted the fuel injectors and put the fuel rail in place. There's about a 1/8" gap from the mounting brackets to the bolting surface. I removed the injectors and used a 14mm socket (slightly smaller than the hole in the head) on a 3/8" extension and carefully tapped until I felt it seat, about 1/8" below the surface of the head. Now the fuel rail mounting brackets line up correctly.

For removing the driver side adapters, I have some paper towels stuffed into the runners up against the bottom of the fuel injector holes. After I remove the adapters I'll use a vacuum to hopefully suck out any broken bits.

Dan
