2000 Explorer XLT
My wife has a 2000 XLT, and after you start is up, and are pulling say out of the drive way, the rpm's will jump up to almost five, and then finally go. When the rpm's are shooting up, the vehicle will not move. You'll be on the gas, but the Explorer is not moving. It will do this about 2-3 times, and then will not do it again, until you turn the vehicle off, and then start it back up. My wife has taken it to the dealership in town, and they said nothing was wrong. I was deployed at the time, but since I've come home, I've noticed it, and it seems to do it more often now. She did have the tranny fluid replaced, but they didn't drop the pan and replace the filter. Any suggestions on what's wrong?

Have them drop the pan, replace the filter and tighten up the valve bodies (?) in the tranny. The 5R55E is known for them coming loose and may result in your symtoms. There is a TSB for the problem. Another symptom is no engine braking when shifter is in 1 (low).
