2000 Tranny

I have a 2000 Eddie Bauer 5.0 AWD. When I went to pick up tranny fluid at the shop I Pennzoil Semi Synth for Mercron and Mercron V. Now the owners manual says these aren't the same to use on the tranny. Whats the story here. On the same note the reason I am asking is I have a fluid leak for the tranny at the radiator. The top fitting in to the radiator is leaking. How can this be addressed?

Is the fitting just loose? You might be able to tighten it up. As for the fluid I don't know. I use Durablend which is Mercon/Mercon V rated just like your Penz.
