2000 XLT replacement key fob remotes, how to identify what to buy?!

I have searched and am confused as to whenter ot not i have to pay attention to some FCC ID# somewhere.

I have the codes for the panel on the door, and all that works.

I have no remotes for the 2000 AWD XLT that I just bought.

Many are on EBAY.

My questions are:

• 3 or 4 button? (I think 3 yes?)
• Do I need to match an FCC ID# somewhere to get the right ones?

The correct one should be a 3 button one with the panic button being an actual horn image and not the word PANIC.

I don't believe you need to worry about the FCC ID but you can probably ask the dealer or a member on here.

Well that is the ONE nagging thing stopping me from buying these FOBs on eBay.

And I dont trust the dealer to know whats what, or at least to tell me...

Hi, NGH (new guy here)

I have a 00 Sport, only came with one key and fob,and the Stealer(I mean dealer) wants $175.00 to set me up with another set. I see the FOB's on Epray but no PAT keys?

Will any 3 button(FORD) FOB work or do I need to look for a specific # on the back?

I also would like another Key are there any options?

If I have 2 keys why would I need another one for 3 total,(to save cash at the stealer?) What I mean is why can the Stealer(I mean dealer) make a duplicate($100.00) with just one key,but I have to have two?
